Valentines Day!!!

Don't forget to keep scrolling down or click on the right for February's Giveaway.
Above is My daughters Robot, she designed ( I helped very little in designing, but a little more in the hands on area) for her class Valentine exchange, They have some kind of a contest. I think he is a keeper, I helped her to wrap the tinfoil around the lid so it can be removed and he or she? won't get destroyed taking out the Valentines.
I made these felt heart beanbags and game for our Pre-school Valentine party. we will use a lot of different numbers and they will identify them and hopefully even add some of the smaller numbers. I think they will, they are smart little cookies.

More Refashioning Fun

These are my 3 favorites so far. They all started out as plain shirts I got on clearance at Old Navy. They averaged about $2.oo a piece. The above green one I bought 2 of and cut the 2nd one up to decorat with. There are lots of tutorials. I used this one.
I bought 2 of the shirt below and cut the second one up to do both of the gray shirts, I didn't really have a tutorial for them I just got ideas from everywhere else. I hand sewed the one above, it took a really long time but it was worth it.

I learned a few things on this one. Here is some tips to help you out. FIRST, try on the shirt to mark the EXACT middle. SECOND, iron the strips into the folds, then pin (or even better baste) them to the shirt before sewing, i just used lots of pins but one of them might still be slightly crooked. Its hard to tell though. If you make some let me know!!

Applique and Stencil Tuorial

Scroll Down for FeBrUaRy'S GiVeAwAy

The orange fabric came from a shirt he out grew and stained. I used a bowl to trace a circle and draw a basketball on the Heat'N
Bond. Then ironed it to the back of the orange shirt, cut it out on each line.
The next step is to peel the other layer off and iron it to the blue shirt. The all you have left to do is to stitch around the edges. You can even do this part by hand if you want too.

Here the shirt is stitched. I think it still needed something. So I printed the word out on a cute font. then traced it on to freezer paper. Freezer paper has a plasticky side. This side will be down, then iron it to the shirt. When your all done it will peel off like scotch tape. It is so awesome.

So cute, can you tell it was a $1.50. We will have no more plain tee's at our house.

A New outfit

McKinley has loved this shirt since we got it at Universal Studios. We also call it the day I met Kris Allen. :)

I really wanted her to get to wear it to school, since she was so into it. I cut the neck open and made a casing to thread elastic through and did the same thing with the sleeves cutting them off first as well.

Then I took another one of Jeffs Ex-work shirts and made a little ruffle at the bottom, it is her new favorite outfit. and cost me $5.00 for the t-shirt.

FeBrUaRy GiVeAwAy !!!

Okay, I decided on the Apron. This months giveaway will be something similar to this. It will be completely different fabric, since I no longer have this one.

McKinley needed a last minute birthday gift, her and I love to do crafts together so I came up with an idea.
We have a lot of these plain notebooks that I made for a Family Reunion a long time ago. So we decorated the front and used a paper punch to make tabs for every letter of the alphabet. Now they have a place to keep all their friends phone numbers. Which they love since they all 10 and becoming very independant and So very social. McKinley keeps hers in her backpack so she can fill it up.

Models must have a sense of humor

SO I was browsing J Crew for Re-Styling ideas, (I have been working on a few I will post them soon, SOOO much fun btw) I couldn't help but look at the faces of these models.

What are they really thinking? Seriously.... ^ that one looked so P.O.'d
I know what this one is thinking ^, "hurry up, I have the the wedgie of a lifetime!!

^ this one is the one that really got to me. Here is what she is thinking. "what the #$%&?, this shirt is $795.00? ........Really??? How much do you think she got paid for taking her pic.?

This girl is so pretty. ---but she looks hungry to me.... I picture people running around her holding up french fries, and thick juicy steaks just to make her look all sad/annoyed for the picture.
I know not at all craft related, but I laughed so hard, and there was no one home to laugh with. So do you agree? Or is it just me?

Skirt from a polo.

My husband got a new job and now I have a lot of these polo shirts with the old company logo on them. Everyone is repurposing clothes these days, so I thought about it for a while.
Last summer I had been wishing for a grey knit casual skirt...... , I cut one apart to make the main part of the skirt. THe second one I cut into strips for a ruffle on teh bottom, I am very tall and if I left it alone it would have been a mini skirt. Then I just made a drawstring to thread throught the waist...... TADA

I liked this up with Blue Cricket Design, and AWESOME blog, check it out HERE

Knotted scarves.

these are the only 2 scarves I have left, I must have made 8 or so. I am still looking for a tutorial, if I can't find one I will add one. They are fun to do on a girls night, everyone brings their yarn and you can share or swap. Its GREAT FUN, and so cute.

Watchbands

This is all I have left of Watch faces and watchbands. The watchfaces are $10.00 each. and watch bands are; $12.00. The brown and silver ones on the far left are
EXTREMELY chunky. They are $16.00.
**these are clearance prices, almost my cost. so there would be additional shipping. I will resize any watch for free, or custom make anything you would like. Cutsom watchbands are between, 12-16 dollars depending on the watch.
